Make sure you list the fruits of this type of person. Are you producing these types of fruits in your life? Do you produce the bad fruit of pride because you are being foolish? Take this next week and be aware of your actions and reactions to others.

Is pride stopping you from serving your husband? You’re his help meet. God wants you to be the woman he created you to be  for your husband. Examine your attitude and speech.

Challenge
Verse 4 not only describes the outcome of a person that is a sluggard and one that is diligent. The words “the soul of the” before each word means what?  What does the Bible tell you?

The soul of the sluggard

The soul of the diligent

Are you diligently seeking the Lord? Are you hard at work seeking him in his Word? Jesus is located all through the Old Testament. Do you seek him? A longing for the Bible is good. It is so easy to go on vacation, or even just everyday activities, and get so busy that you miss your devotional time. Do you have a thirst to learn more and want
to have a close relationship with your savior? You should. This is a good time to check your daily devotional time spent with the Lord. Pray about it.

AND GOD SAID NO

AND GOD SAID NO

I ASK GOD TO TAKE AWAY MY PRIDE AND GOD SAID NO
HE SAID IT WAS NOT FOR HIM TO TAKE AWAY, BUT FOR ME TO GIVE UP.

I ASKED GOD TO MAKE MY HANDICAPPED CHILD WHOLE, AND GOD SAID “NO”!
HE SAID HER SPIRIT IS WHOLE, HER BODY IS ONLY TEMPORARY.

I ASKED GOD TO GRANT ME PATIENCE AND GOD SAID, “NO”!
HE SAID THAT PATIENCE IS A BY PRODUCT OF TRIBULATION, IT ISN’T GRANTED IT’S EARNED.

I ASKED GOD TO GIVE ME HAPPINESS, AND GOD SAID ‘NO’!
HE SAID HE GIVES BLESSINGS, HAPPINESS IS UP TO ME.

I ASKED GOD TO SPARE ME PAIN, GOD SAID “NO’!
HE SAID, SUFFERING DRAWS YOU APART FROM WORLDLY CARES AND BRINGS YOU CLOSER TO ME.

I ASKED GOD TO MAKE MY SPIRIT GROW AND GOD SAID “NO”!
HE SAID I MUST GROW ON MY OWN, BUT HE WILL PRUNE ME TO MAKE ME FRUITFUL.

I ASKED GOD TO HELP ME LOVE OTHERS, AS MUCH AS HE LOVES ME.
AND GOD SAID “AH”! FINALLY, YOU HAVE THE “IDEA”.

Home School – Is it for my family?

Posted By on June 2, 2011

I am a very big fan of Christian education. I even added home school material to my bookstore site to help those that are looking for great material. I really want to encourage you to consider Christian education.

Did you know that Burner Books offers material for home schoolers? I choose Landmark Freedom Baptist Curriculum for high quality educational material that has a Biblical focus. You will find Pre-school to High School curriculum with Bible, Math, History & Geography, Literature, Science, English. Electives include Home Economics, Spanish, Computer, Penmanship, Personal Development (for ladies),  Music, and Shop.

Landmark’s Freedom Baptist Curriculum is the only full-line (K through 12) curriculum owned and operated by a local independent Baptist church. This is your assurance that the curriculum is and will remain doctrinally sound. Suitable for both church school and homeschool application, LFBC is designed to be self-instructional, but is flexible enough to be used in traditional settings.

The curriculum is

  • Self-Instructional
  • Academically Challenging
  • Biblically Sound
  • Basics Oriented

There is a lot of discussion around home schooling. Can I do it? Will my children really benefit? Can we afford to only have one spouse working? What about my child missing social aspects of being around other kids? Which type or method should we do?

First, you and your spouse have to decide how important this is to your children and their future. They will be learning about the Bible and creation and many other things that are not taught in public school. You will not be subjecting them to the many worldly things that are happening in the public school setting. Many stand up daily to saluate our flag for our nation. They are able to pray daily at school. Yes, this is very important for the future of your children.

The next step is coming up with a plan on how are you going to do this. Pray about it. This will change your finances. There has to be things that you are willing to give up in order to make this happen. If you take your child to a homeschool network or private Christian school you have to consider rides there and back. As a parent, you will have to be more involved than every before with school work. You will need to know what they are learning and how fast they are progressing. One child may need to be challenged more and another may need more of your attention. In choosing a home school network; most if not all require parent involvement. This is a good thing. You will grow closer and understand your child like never before.

Social aspects of home schooling can be handled. There are groups designed to get home schoolers together to help bridge the gap. If not one in your area, then start one! I have seen groups for sports and academics to get children that are strictly at home with a parent to see and socialize with other students. This is not as big an issue with churches or groups that start home school networks where they have a larger number of children.

There are different ways people are homeschooling. There are groups of homeschoolers where parents communicate with each other.  The children are for the most part completely trained by mom or dad at home. There are also extensions of churches and organizations that offer a home school network to children. This gives children the missing social aspect so many talk of. Yet, keeps them in a home school atmosphere to learn not only required disciples, but also teaching about the Bible.

Whichever form of home schooling you decide to partake in make sure you and your spouse pray about it and plan ahead.

What benefits have you experienced with Christian education?

Can you tell me what has helped your family in making the “big decision”?

Great Mother’s Day Gifts!

Great Mother’s Day Gift Idea’s!

Wondering what to do for Mom this year…sometimes it seems like Mom has just about everything!

Here are some ideas to get you thinking and shopping for Mom.

#1 – Always get a card

*You could have flowers delivered to her work or home. Or get her flowers she has been looking at and talking about for her flower garden at home.

*Any kind of gift card – to a restaurant, clothing store, even Home Depot…. I bet she would not mind picking out some flowers or garden items on her own.

*Favorite Perfume

*Electronic gadget’s like an eBook, laptop, etc. You could go in one a gift with another sibling, if the price  is little too high.

*Manicure, Gift card to the salon

*You could purchase an awesome book or Bible from Burner bookstore.

*I have a very good friend that collects tea pots. They are very nice and unique. It is always fun to get her gifts when I see a unique one. I just have to get it for her. What does Mom collect?

*Does she like to cook? There a plenty of stores around that have unique cooking items. Cook books are one of my favorites. I like to try new recipes out on my family.

*You could do a craft with the kids. There are some really neat ones. We plan on doing one with our Sunday School class. We are thinking about doing the one with the picture on the candle.

* Ask Mom what she wants. I normally give my husband my list with a few extra items just in case he can’t find something or has any problems.

*Ask Dad what she has been looking or talking about lately. He might have some very good ideas. Remember this is usually the very last resort!

What are some idea’s or suggestions you have for Mother’s Day Gifts?

Proverbs 11:1-31

Posted By on April 25, 2011

Chapter 11:1-31

1 A _ _ _ _ _ balance is abomination to the LORD: but a _ _ _ _ weight is his delight.

2 When _ _ _ _ _ cometh, then cometh _ _ _ _ _: but with the lowly is wisdom.

3 The _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.

4 Riches profit not in the _ _ _ of _ _ _ _ _: but righteousness delivereth from death.

5 The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the _ _ _ _ _ _ shall fall by his own wickedness.

6 The righteousness of the _ _ _ _ _ _ _ shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their _ _ _ naughtiness.

7 When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of _ _ _ _ _ _ men perisheth.

8 The righteous is delivered _ _ _ of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.

9 An hypocrite with his _ _ _ _ _ destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.

10 When it goeth well with the righteous, the city _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.

11 By the _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

12 He that is _ _ _ _ of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his _ _ _ _ _.

13 A talebearer revealeth _ _ _ _ _ _ _: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

14 Where _ _ counsel is, the people _ _ _ _: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

15 He that is surety for a stranger shall _ _ _ _ _ for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.

16 A gracious _ _ _ _ _ retaineth honour: and strong _ _ _ retain riches.

17 The _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.

18 The wicked worketh a deceitful _ _ _ _: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.

19 As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own _ _ _ _ _.

20 They that are of a _ _ _ _ _ _ _ heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.

21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall _ _ _ be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

22 As a _ _ _ _ _ of _ _ _ _ in a swine’s snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.

23 The _ _ _ _ _ _ of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.

24 There is that scattereth, and yet _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.

25 The liberal _ _ _ _ shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

26 He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that _ _ _ _ _ _ _ it.

27 He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _, it shall come unto him.

28 He that trusteth in his riches shall _ _ _ _; but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the _ _ _ _ shall be servant to the wise of heart.

30 The fruit of the righteous is a _ _ _ _ of _ _ _ _; and he that winneth souls is wise.

31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the _ _ _ _ _: much more the wicked and the sinner.

Questions
A.  List what happens to the righteous. Look at verse 8 for an example.

B.   What does a person of understanding hold?

C.   What do a gracious woman and a strong man bring?

D.   What do the verses compare a woman without discretion to?

E.   We are given direction to do what to obtain wisdom?

Challenge
Verse 1 “A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.” Is listed several times throughout Proverbs and is very important to God. When I think of this verse my daily lists and priorities come to mind. Am I balancing time with the Lord, my husband, children, church and work correctly? Am I seeing the big picture? It is so easy to get pulled into several different directions. Satan wants us to take our eyes off the Lord and what he considers important onto other less important things. When we do that and get distracted something or someone always suffers. Think about your day. Do you spend too much time on the internet or TV? Both drain your time and energy and take you away from needed duties. It pleases the Lord when you are aware and striving to have the correct balance. Are you just in the Lord on Sunday morning? There is an unbalance. The Lord wants you to speak with him daily by going to his word and prayer. Start out the day with a correct balance in the word of God.  Examine your day. Of course, you will have exceptions with emergencies or unexpected events. Strive to have balance in every area of your life – especially in your prayer life.

Chapter 9:1-18

 1 Wisdom hath _ _ _ _ _ _ _ her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:

2  _ _ _ hath killed her beasts; _ _ _ hath mingled her wine; _ _ _ hath also furnished her table.

3  _ _ _ hath sent forth her maidens: _ _ _ crieth upon the highest places of the city,

4  Whoso is _ _ _ _ _ _, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

5  Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have _ _ _ _ _ _ _.

6  _ _ _ _ _ _ _ the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

7  He that reproveth a _ _ _ _ _ _ _ getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a _ _ _ _ _ _ man getteth himself a blot.

8  Reprove not a scorner, lest he _ _ _ _ thee: rebuke a _ _ _ _man, and he will _ _ _ _ thee.

9  Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet _ _ _ _ _: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

10  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the _ _ _ _ is understanding.

11  For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the _ _ _ _ _ of thy life shall be increased.

12  If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _, thou alone shalt bear it.

13  A foolish woman is clamorous: she is _ _ _ _ _ _, and knoweth nothing.

14  For she _ _ _ _ _ _ _ at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,

15  To _ _ _ _ passengers who go right on their ways:

16  Whoso is simple, let him _ _ _ _ in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

17  Stolen waters are _ _ _ _ _, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.

18  But he knoweth _ _ _ that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.

Questions

1.  In which way should you go in? Forsaking what?

2.  What is the beginning of wisdom? Why?

3.  What is the warning in verses 13-18? What do you get out of the verses?

Challenge
How are you doing with this study? You should be starting to see verse concepts and comparisons stand out more clearly.  Are you able to pick out verses that you can link personally to different people or even circumstances in your life?

We are on week 9. Don’t give up!

God may be leading you to guide and teach a young lady in your Sunday school class. Do you have a desire to love and teach? We are instructed to teach younger girls and boys on the right way to go. Do you get to class just in time to hurry up and teach? You may be the only person in her life that shows her compassion and teaches her how a young lady should behave.

If the verses are not speaking to you…pray and ask God to guide you in understanding and wisdom with the Scriptures.

Step Back, Pray, Go Forward knowing the Holy Spirit will guide you.
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Phil 4:13

Proverbs 8:1-36

Chapter 8:1-36

1 Doth not wisdom _ _ _? And understanding put forth her _ _ _ _ _?

2 She standeth in the top of _ _ _ _ places, by the way in the places of the _ _ _ _ _.

3 She _ _ _ _ _ _ at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.

4 Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the _ _ _ _ of _ _ _.

5 O ye simple, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

6 Hear; for I will _ _ _ _ _ of excellent things; and the opening of my _ _ _ _ shall be right things.

7 For my mouth shall speak _ _ _ _ _; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

8 All the _ _ _ _ _ of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.

9 They are all _ _ _ _ _ to him that understandeth, and _ _ _ _ _ to them that find knowledge.

10 Receive _ _ instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.

11 For wisdom is _ _ _ _ _ _ than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

12 I wisdom _ _ _ _ _ with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.

13 The fear of the LORD is to hate _ _ _ _: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

14 Counsel _ _ mine, and sound wisdom: I _ _ understanding; I _ _ _ _ strength.

15 By me kings reign, and princes decree _ _ _ _ _ _ _.

16 By me princes rule, and nobles, even _ _ _ the judges of the earth.

17 I _ _ _ _ them that love me; and those that seek me early shall _ _ _ _ me.

18 Riches and _ _ _ _ _ _ are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.

19 My _ _ _ _ _ is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.

20 I _ _ _ _ in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:

21 That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will _ _ _ _ their treasures.

22 The _ _ _ _ possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the _ _ _ _ _ was.

24 When there were _ _ depths, I was brought forth; when there were _ _ fountains abounding with water.

25 _ _ _ _ _ _ the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:

26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the _ _ _ _ _.

27 When _ _ prepared the heavens, _ was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

28 When he established the clouds _ _ _ _ _: when he strengthened the fountains of the _ _ _ _:

29 When he gave to the _ _ _ his decree, that the _ _ _ _ _ _ should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

30 Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was _ _ _ _ _ his delight, rejoicing always before him;

31 Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the _ _ _ _ of _ _ _.

32 Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for _ _ _ _ _ _ _ are they that keep my ways.

33 Hear instruction, and be _ _ _ _, and refuse it not.

34 Blessed is the man that _ _ _ _ _ _ _ me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

35 For whoso findeth me findeth _ _ _ _, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.

36 But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own _ _ _ _: all they that hate me love death.

Proverbs Chapter 7:1-27 KJV

Fill in the blanks and answer questions at the end of this chapter.

7:1  My son, keep my _ _ _ _ _ , and lay up my commandments with thee.

7:2  Keep my commandments, and live; and my _ _ _ as the apple of thine eye.

7:3  Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine _ _ _ _ _.

7:4  Say unto _ _ _ _ _ _, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:

7:5  That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her _ _ _ _ _.

7:6  For at the window of my _ _ _ _ _ I looked through my casement,

7:7  And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man _ _ _ _ of understanding,

7:8  Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the _ _ _ to her _ _ _ _ _,

7:9  In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark _ _ _ _ _:

7:10 And, behold, there met him a woman with the _ _ _ _ _ _ of an harlot, and subtil of heart.

7:11 (She is _ _ _ _ and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:

7:12 Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in _ _ _ _ at every corner.)

7:13 So she caught _ _ _, and kissed _ _ _, and with an impudent face said unto him,

7:14 I have peace offerings with me; this day have I _ _ _ _ _ my vows.

7:15 Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have _ _ _ _ _ thee.

7:16 I have decked my _ _ _ with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.

7:17 I have perfumed my _ _ _ with myrrh, _ _ _ _ _, and cinnamon.

7:18 Come, let us take our _ _ _ _ of _ _ _ _ until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.

7:19 For the goodman is _ _ _ at home, he is gone a long journey:

7:20 He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _.

7:21 With her much fair speech she caused him to _ _ _ _ _, with the flattering of her _ _ _ _ she forced him.

7:22 He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a _ _ _ _ to the correction of the stocks;

7:23 Till a dart strike through _ _ _ liver, as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for _ _ _ life.

7:24 Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the _ _ _ _ _ of my mouth.

7:25 Let _ _ _ thine heart decline to her _ _ _ _, go not astray in her paths.

7:26 For she hath cast down many wounded:  yea, many strong _ _ _ have been slain by _ _ _.

7:27 Her house is the _ _ _ to hell, going down to the chambers of _ _ _ _ _.

Questions
What should be written upon your heart?

What are the two main things that help keep us from sin?

What does a young person that is “void” of understanding do?

Describe what are some of the things a strange woman does? Can a man do also do similar things to a woman that is void of understanding?

Proverbs Chapter 6:1-35 KJV

Fill in the blanks and answer questions at the end of this chapter.

6
:1  My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy _ _ _ _  with a stranger,

6:2  Thou art _ _ _ _ _ _ with the words of thy _ _ _ _ _, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

6:3  Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, _ _ _ _ _ _ thyself, and make sure thy friend.

6:4  Give not _ _ _ _ _ to thine eyes, nor _ _ _ _ _ _ _ to thine eyelids.

6:5  _ _ _ _ _ _ _  thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

6:6  Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her _ _ _ _, and be _ _ _ _:

6:7  Which having _ _ guide, overseer, or ruler,

6:8  Provideth her _ _ _ _ in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

6:9  How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? When wilt thou _ _ _ _ _ out of thy sleep?

6:10  Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little _ _ _ _ _ _ _ of the _ _ _ _ _ to sleep:

6:11  So shall thy _ _ _ _ _ _ _ come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

6:12  A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a forward _ _ _ _ _.

6:13  He _ _ _ _ _ _ _ with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;

6:14  Frowardness is in his _ _ _ _ _, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.

6:15  Therefore shall his _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.

6:16  These _ _ _ things doth the LORD hate; yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

6:17  A proud _ _ _ _, a _ _ _ _ _ tongue, and hands that _ _ _ _ innocent blood,

6:18  An _ _ _ _ _ that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _,

6:19  A false witness that speaketh _ _ _ _, and he that soweth discord among _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _.

6:20  My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake _ _ _ the law of thy mother:

6:21  _ _ _ _ them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.

6:22  When thou goest, it shall _ _ _ _ thee; when thou sleepest, it shall _ _ _ _ thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

6:23  For the commandment is a _ _ _ _; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

6:24  To keep thee from the _ _ _ _ woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.

6:25  Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her _ _ _ _ _ _ _.

6:26  For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious _ _ _ _.

6:27  Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes _ _ _ be burned?

6:28  Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet _ _ _ be burned?

6:29  So he that goeth in to his neighbour’s wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _.

6:30  Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to _ _ _ _ _ _ _ his soul when he is hungry;

6:31  But if he be found, he shall _ _ _ _ _ _ _ sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.

6:32  But whoso committeth adultery with a woman _ _ _ _ _ _ _ understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.

6:33  A wound and dishonour shall he _ _ _; and his reproach shall _ _ _  be wiped away.

6:34  For _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

6:35  He will not regard any ramsom; neither will he _ _ _ _  content, though thou givest many gifts.

Questions
Describe how the ant behaves. What should we be doing?

What are the things a bad person (wicked man or woman) does? v. 12-15 What happens to that person?

What seven things doth the Lord hate? v. 16-19 Which one is an abomination to the Lord?

What does commandments and laws do for us?

What happens to a man when he allows an evil woman into his life?

To Do
The seven things the LORD hates is important to our daily walk. We want to avoid them at all costs. Look at your speech (tongue), your heart, your witnessing (by actions) and ask the Lord to help you identify areas of your life where you are falling short. Examine yourself and take steps to change. This will be warfare – ask the LORD for His help and protection.

Proverbs Chapter 5:1-23 KJV

Fill in the blanks and answer questions at the end of this post. Challenge yourself with completing To Do section.

5:1 MY SON, attend unto my _ _ _ _ _ _, and bow thine ear to _ _ understanding:

5:2 That thou mayest _ _ _ _ _ _ discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

5:3 For the lips of a strange _ _ _ _ _  drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

5:4 But her _ _ _  is _ _ _ _ _ _ as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

5:5 Her feet go down to death; her _ _ _ _ _ take hold on hell.

5:6 Lest thou shouldest ponder the _ _ _ _ of _ _ _ _, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.

5:7 _ _ _ _ me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

5:8 Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the _ _ _ _ of her _ _ _ _ _:

5:9 Lest thou give thine _ _ _ _ _ _ unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

5:10 Lest strangers be filled with thy _ _ _ _ _ _; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;

5:11 And thou mourn at the last, when thy _ _ _ _ _ and thy _ _ _ _ are consumed,

5:12 And say, How have I _ _ _ _ _ instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

5:13 And have not _ _ _ _ _ _ the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instruct me!

5:14 I was almost in all _ _ _ _ in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

5:15 Drink waters out of thine _ _ _ cistern, and running waters out of thine _ _ _ well.

5:16 Let _ _ _ fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.

5:17 Let them be _ _ _ _ thine _ _ _, and not strangers’ with thee.

5:18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and _ _ _ _ _ _ _  with the _ _ _ _ of thy youth.

5:19 Let her be as the _ _ _ _ _ _ hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her _ _ _ _.

5:20 And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a _ _ _ _ _ _ _ woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

5:21 For the ways of man are before the _ _ _ _ of the LORD, and he pondereth _ _ _ his goings.

5:22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his _ _ _ _.

5:23 He shall _ _ _ without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go _ _ _ _ _ _.

Questions
How does this chapter describe this kind of woman? List the traits.

What path is she on? (verse 5)

Would you want your daughter to be this type of woman? How about your son to be influenced by her?

What is before the eyes of the Lord?

How shall he die? What does it make him do?

To Do
This Proverb focuses on a wicked woman and the ways she can take a man down the wrong path. It is a warning. It gives instruction to teach our young men what to avoid in a mate. We can also teach our young ladies not to be this kind of woman. Verse 18-19 shows that a man can be truly happy and blessed with the right kind of woman.
Are you teaching your children, grand-children or even Sunday school children the right way to act? Do you provide sound instruction and wisdom? Are you getting your instruction from God’s Word?

Fruit of the Spirit – Lesson 10 Temperance

Posted By on October 9, 2010

Temperance – A Result of Abiding

Introduction
The world will never teach you to have temperance. We live in a society that teaches us to do what we feel like doing, regardless of who may get hurt in the process. This teaching is opposite that of the Bible. We are to have self-control. Our flesh and its desire are not to rule us, but rather to be brought under subjection of the Holy Spirit.

I. Bringing our bodies under subjection
A.  Read I Corinthians 9:19-27
Our flesh needs to have self-control. This will never come naturally to us. How did Paul bring his body into subjection?

B.
Your Spirit must be stronger than your flesh for you to have temperance. From all that we have studied, how do we defeat the flesh?

II. Temperance necessary to bear fruit
A. II Peter 1:5-8
Peter lists several things that must be in our lives so that we will not be unfruitful.
List them:

B. How many of these go hand in hand with the fruit of the Spirit?

III. Temperance in all areas of your life
A. List as many areas of your life as you can think of in which you must have temperance. Find Scriptures to back it up.

Conclusion
Ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart and show up the areas in which you need temperance. Immerse yourself in God’s Word and what it has to say on your specific problem areas. He will help you gain the victory!

TO DO
Temperance is having self control over the flesh. It is not giving into sinful thoughts and actions. Keeping our bodies and minds under control can be a very difficult thing. We are all born sinners. Knowing that through Christ all things are possible gives hope and strength to ensure each day and keep up the battle.

Reading your Bible, praying and fasting can be such a big help in this area. It will keep you focused and your mind on Christ. Your Spirit must be stronger than your flesh.

For ladies, an area to focus on is the tongue. It can be wicked. It can destroy relationships. It can cause discord in our families and churches. The tempter knows we are weak in this area; he works even harder.Keeping your speech and actions in check is hard to do. It can be so easy to slip into murmuring, complaining and even gossiping. We have to be strong and ready. Sometimes you find yourself down a bad path in a conversation. It is not done purposefully.  We start out talking and end up somewhere completely different. You find yourself battling speech and actions. Ladies, we all know we do it. Therefore, prepare yourself. Here are some things to do to help in this area. Begin your daily devotionals asking God to guide your speech. And to open your eyes and ears convicting immediately when you are facing situations. As you are in a conversation, pray silently. It does not have to be out loud. Think of other things that would be pleasing to God – like His word. The best conversations I have had are talking about a Bible study or book in the Bible I am reading. I replace the topics presented with Godly topics. Try it. You will be amazed as to where you end up.

Challenge
Do you demonstrate the Fruit of the Spirit of Temperance? Ask the Lord to check you and seek out your heart. Be aware of your speech and actions. Take your problem area and seek God. Make it a point to do right and change your direction.

Fruit of the Spirit – Lesson 9 Meekness

Posted By on August 30, 2010

Meekness – A Result of Abiding

Introduction
Christ is our greatest example of meekness. The God of the universe showed meekness and humility while on this earth. How much more should we have meekness; we have nothing in ourselves in which to boast!

I. The Meekness of our Lord
A.  Matthew 11:28-30
What is Christ’s description of Himself? What does he command us?

B.  Philippians 2:5-8
Was Christ concerned about His reputation? Did it hinder what He came here to do? Are we so humble that our reputation doesn’t concern us as much as what we were put here to do?

II. The command to be meek
A. Who is commanded to be meek in the following passages?
1. Galatians 6:1
2. I Peter 3:1-4
5. I Timothy 6:6-11

B. Read I Peter 3:15-17
Why is meekness so important when we are telling others of the hope that is within us?

Conclusion
“The Christian is to be as harmless as a dove. In his Master’s battles, bold as a lion, but for himself and for his own cause, tender, gentle, shunning debate, loving quietness, ready to take a rebuke rather than to administer one; feeling himself to be weak and frail.” Charles H Spurgeon

TO DO
Meekness is not a word that is often used. Instead young ladies are encouraged to be loud, ruling, prideful and demanding. They grow up to teens and adults that no one wants to be around. The Bible says we are to demonstrate in our lives meekness. We are to show the young ladies how to be meek. Dictionary.com has the definition of meekness as:  patient, long-suffering, or submissive in disposition or nature; humble, forbearing; yielding; unassuming; pacific; calm, and gentle. Do you demonstrate any meekness traits?  On a regular basis?
Do you know a meek woman? I do. And I enjoy her company. I can guarantee there is no hidden agenda. She is not self seeking. She has a quiet strength within her that radiates in all that she does. It does not mean she lets others take advantage of her. That is why it is a quiet strength. She is respected. She is following God’s will that he wants for every woman.

 Are you meek?

 Challenge
How does a woman become or show meekness? Do you show any signs of meekness?
*Do you think before doing?
*Do you control your emotions?
*Are you humble?
*Are you loud? Ruling over others? Demanding at times?
*How do you talk to others? Is there respect in your voice or actions?
*How do you handle situations?
*Can you speak out, yet be gentle?

Pray about this. Go to the Lord and ask him to show you where you can improve. Ask Him to teach you. Meekness is humble submission to the Lord. He wants you to be meek and seek Him. Look at women in your church that show meekness. What are some direct character traits you can learn? Ask questions. Get a plan together on things you can do to become the woman the Bible speaks of. Mediate on verses. Find another Christian lady where you can hold each other accountable.
